Simplifi vs Mint
Updated August 9, 2026 · Simply Finance
Mint is gone. Is Quicken Simplifi the closest replacement?
For a former Mint user, Quicken Simplifi is a natural product to evaluate: it offers bank connections, manual accounts, planning tools, and a supported Mint CSV import. It is not the only path. Simply Finance is built for people who prefer manual tracking, no bank connection, and a local-first app that works offline.

What happened to Mint
The original Mint budgeting service is no longer available. The official Mint page now sends people to Credit Karma, another Intuit product. That can still be useful if its current features fit your needs, but it is not the same Mint product continuing under a new name.
Quicken Simplifi is a separate, active budgeting product. It is a plausible next stop for someone who wants connected accounts and cloud access. Simply Finance takes the opposite approach: manual entry, an on-device ledger, and no bank credentials.

Choose Quicken Simplifi if…
Simplifi is likely the closer Mint replacement when automatic aggregation matters more than offline use. It is the stronger fit if you want:
- Optional bank connections. You can connect supported institutions while keeping other accounts manual.
- A hosted web and mobile experience. Your data is available through the online Quicken service wherever it is supported.
- Simplifi’s planning workflow. Its Spending Plan and connected-account tools are central parts of the product.
- A direct Mint CSV path. Quicken documents a Mint import in the Simplifi web app.
Simplifi supports manual accounts, so you can use it without sharing bank credentials. It still requires an internet connection and an online Quicken account.
Choose Simply Finance if…
Simply Finance is the better fit when you want a smaller, manual system instead of another connected cloud dashboard. Consider it if you value:
- No bank connection. There is no place to enter your bank username or password because the app has no aggregator.
- Local-first, offline use. The core ledger and budgets continue to work without a network connection.
- A manual money habit. You decide what enters the ledger instead of reviewing an automatic feed.
- A non-subscription app option. Core tracking and budgets are free; Full Version is a one-time $4.99 purchase. Optional managed relay hosting is a separate recurring service, while the built-in relay and self-hosting remain available.
Simply Finance does not automatically download bank transactions. If that automation is essential, Simplifi is likely the better choice.
A safe way to move your Mint history
If you exported Mint before it closed, treat that CSV as your source archive. Work from copies and compare both products before committing to one.
Preserve the original export
Keep your saved Mint CSV unchanged and make a duplicate for each import test. Mint is no longer available if you need to recreate that archive later.
Test Simplifi in its web app
Follow Quicken’s Mint import flow, then review account assignments, categories, balances, and duplicates before linking any bank.
Preview it in Simply Finance
Choose Import from Another App → Mint. Check the preview, then save only after the date range, accounts, and categories look correct.
Choose with real data
Compare daily entry, budgeting, reports, offline behavior, and total cost. Keep the original CSV regardless of which app wins.

FAQ
Is Mint still available in 2026?
No. The original Mint service was discontinued, and the current Mint website directs visitors to Credit Karma. Credit Karma is a separate Intuit product, not a continuation of the same Mint budgeting app.
Does Quicken Simplifi require me to link a bank?
No. Bank connections are available, but Quicken also documents how to add manual accounts. Simplifi still uses an online Quicken account even when your financial accounts are entered manually.
Does Quicken Simplifi work offline?
No. Quicken’s documentation says Simplifi is an online-only service and requires an internet connection. Simply Finance is local-first, so its core ledger and budgets work offline.
Can Quicken Simplifi import a Mint CSV?
Yes. Quicken provides a Mint CSV import flow in the Simplifi web app. Keep an untouched copy of the export before importing it anywhere.
Can Simply Finance import my saved Mint history?
Yes. Choose Mint under Import from Another App, preview the accounts, categories, dates, and duplicates, then save the copy only when it looks right.
How is Simply Finance priced?
Core tracking and budgets are free. Full Version is a one-time $4.99 in-app purchase for Sync and detailed Reports. Optional managed relay hosting from SimplySync Cloud is billed separately; the built-in relay and self-hosting remain available.
